Alexander The Great

"People were like snake, you can love them for years, feed them, nurture them, but still, they can turn on you" - Olympias

This quote was given to Alexander by his mother, Olympias, for his mother wanted to let him know and taught him well.
She believed that Alexander was a son of Zeus and wanted him to be a great king. Since he was still young, his mother always counselled him that 'people were like snake, you can love them for years, feed them, nurture them, but still, they can turn on you'. His mother wanted him to be an independent man as he grew up and not too believe on someone even they were so close, because she was afraid that Alexander would be hurted by people and let down because of that, A king should not be like that, a king should be strong and assertive.

But when he was getting older, he did not give notice about his mother's words. He did believed in some of his friends. But then, he found out that his right hand person wanted to kill him by giving a poison in his beverage, but before he drank that beverage, the waiter told him about the poison. He was really angry about that and he argued with the man who wanted to kill him, the man who always took care of him since his father died and became a king. Because of his anger, he stabbed him unintentionally and repented it. Then, he remembered his mother's words, that was true.

His bestfriend and his mistress tried to calm him by giving him advice that he was a great king and his place needed him. Then, he got back his strength and became wiser than before. After that, he always remebered all of his mother's advice when he got problems, but sometimes, he did not do some of his mother's advice because he thought that his mother was not always right in all things.
